How Can We Go on in a World Devoid of God's Presence?

In this sermon we wrestle with a question that sits deep in every Christian heart: How can we go on in a world where God's presence seems hidden? Moses pleads with the Lord for assurance, for forgiveness, for the promise that God will truly go with His people. And the Lord answers, but not by showing His full glory, which "no human being can see… and live," but by revealing His goodness, His compassion, and the "after effects" of His passing presence. Drawing from moments like Moses being placed "in the crevice of the rock" and seeing only the "vapor trail" of God's glory, this sermon proclaims the comfort that God still shows Himself today, in His Word, in His sacraments, and in the forgiveness we speak to one another. So we see God does show us his presence in the after effects, which are His promises, His mercy, His gifts, and they're enough." This message leads us to rest in Christ's continual presence among His people, the One who took on human flesh so we could know, without doubt, that we are forgiven and that we belong to Him.
