The True God Is the LORD, Who Always Keeps His Promises

In this sermon from Exodus 6:2-8, we hear the LORD speak into the suffering of His people with a name that reveals His very being. Long before Israel saw the plagues, the Red Sea, or the Promised Land, the LORD declared who He is: the One who exists in and of Himself, the God who binds Himself to His people, the God who acts on His promises.

This message traces how the LORD deepens Israel’s understanding of His Name, how He remembers and keeps His covenant, and how He redeems His people with His own outstretched arm. The same LORD who brought Israel out of Egypt is the One who took on human flesh, lived perfectly, and redeemed us from slavery to sin, death, and the devil.

Peter’s confession — “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” — becomes the New Testament clarity of the LORD’s saving Name. In Christ, we see the fulfillment of every promise: adoption as God’s children, forgiveness of sins, and the sure hope of the new heavens and the new earth.

This sermon proclaims the comfort that the LORD is not merely a title — He is the God who acts, the God who saves, the God who keeps His promises to His people with absolute faithfulness.
