Why Does Our World Seem to Be Growing More and More Confused?

In this sermon, we trace the deep biblical reason behind the growing confusion in our world. Drawing from Romans 1:18–28 and the Parable of the Weeds, the message shows how humanity’s rejection of God’s truth leads to distorted thinking, misplaced worship, and a sinful nature running unchecked. Paul’s progression—from suppressing the truth, to exchanging God’s glory for created things, to receiving the consequences of a corrupted mind—reveals the downward spiral that follows when the Creator is traded for the lie. Yet the sermon does not end in despair. The Gospel promises that God has not abandoned His field. Through His Word and Sacraments, He creates a new person within us, exposes the devil’s lies, and keeps us anchored in Christ. The One who owns the field, the harvest, and the barn has already turned weeds into wheat. In the end, the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.
